We are almost done with Unit 2! Objective 4 will be covered on Tuesday-no math is involved. This objective is on periodic trends. You will need to go home and learn those before Thursday. Our 2.4 Quiz will be on Thursday of next week. Corrections will take place on Friday!

Quantum Number & Electron Configuration Practice

Here are some problems on quantum numbers and electron configurations. You should be able to do the quantum number practice without trouble. However, because we briefly covered electron configuration basics, you should try to use the aufbau filling chart to write electron configurations. I encourage each of you to look at the electron configuration power-point before next class to get a head start.

I am extending the due date for the quantum numbers   homeworkto next Thursday (the date of the quiz). There is one last thing I need to add in class tomorrow, and I want you to have your homework to study for the quiz. *(6th period-I need to add one thing concerning the d and f block principal quantum numbers. You will be able to start some of the homework. But, when it asks about d and f block, you may be a little confused. You will obtain this key piece of info tomorrow in class)

6th period: I might have said "x-1" instead of "1-x" for the abundance of the 2nd isotope. It should be 1-x. I hope this clears up any confusion!

After the quiz on Tuesday, we will begin objective 2.2 and get into atomic structure and average atomic mass. We will also do a penny activity on average atomic mass. On Thursday and Friday, we will get into objective 2.3, with a focus on electron configurations.

Unit 1 Remediation is due Friday for those that scored below a 70%. Keep up with your objective 2 homework!!

End of Unit 1, Beginning of Unit 2

We have just finished unit 1. Today in class we will learn how to keep track of objective grades throughout the year. You will receive your graded lab I, objective 1.1 and 1.2 quizzes, and unit 1 exam. From these, we will record scores on graph paper. If you did not do well on unit 1 material, you need to make sure you continue to practice. I have attached some remediation problems for unit 1. If you scored below a 70%, you need to complete these! Remember: each exam is cumulative, containing a few questions from earlier material. In order to do well in this course, you need to work on the material at home. If you can go home and review what we have learned each day and do a few practice problems, you can succeed!
